STATEMENTS:
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES -  Each year since 2006 the Mayor and Township Committee have issued Requests for Proposals for professional services (legal, engineering and financial) through the “fair and open” process. The notice of this request is posted on the Township website and in the Township’s official newspaper. The Governing Body reviews all the proposals submitted and appoints individuals to the positions of engineer, solicitor, auditor, etc. for a period of one year. All appointing resolutions and contracts are on file in the Municipal Clerk’s Office. Notice of the appointments is posted in the Township’s official newspaper.

BANKING SERVICES - Early in 2009 the Township issued Requests for Proposals for Banking Services. In February, 2009, the Township adopted a resolution which approved a banking relationship with Ocean First Bank and TD Bank.

PURCHASING - The Township has a Qualified Purchasing Agent on staff. Vendors can apply on-line via the Township’s website to be placed on a vendor list. All Notices to Bidders for goods and/or services being bid are placed on the Township website and in the Township’s official newspaper.

PUBLIC RECORDS INVENTORY - The administrative, financial and tax offices reviewed many years of documents and based upon the State of NJ Records Retention Schedule, Division of Archives & Records Management (DARM), requested approval for destruction of documents, received approval and the documents were shredded by a private vendor in 2008. The Township currently has a Shared Services Agreement with Toms River for shredding services. Early in 2010 Ocean County provided records retention services to the Township through a PARIS grant.

PUBLIC AUCTIONS - A public auction was held on-line through GovDeals in 2009. The Township sold many surplus items. Future public auctions will be held as needed. All public auctions must receive Governing Body approval and will be advertised on the Township website and in the Township’s official newspaper.

TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE COMPENSATION - Township Committee members received $1.00 in 2010 for their services and no fringe benefits (medical, prescription, etc.). The Mayor receives no compensation and no fringe benefits.

OPRA REQUESTS - In accordance with the Open Public Records Act of July, 2002, the Municipal Clerk’s Office accepts requests for municipal records for all departments, which are then forwarded to a particular department for their response. Requests are accepted on the Township’s official request form or a written request that falls within the scope of OPRA. Official forms can be obtained from the Municipal Clerk’s Office by a visit to that office, by fax or by downloading the form from the Township’s official website. The fee for the request is five cents (.05¢) for each letter size sheet of paper or smaller and seven cents (.07¢) for each legal size or larger sheet of paper.
