Mr. Joe Zoltowski gives presentation on gypsy moths

Township Committee Meeting February 3, 2010
At the March 3 2010 Plumsted Township Committee meeting a special presentation on the Gypsy moth was held. The moth has been an important pest of hardwoods in the Northeastern United States since its introduction in 1869. Plumsted Township Committeeman Eric Sorchik invited the Mr. Joe Zoltowski, Chief Bureau of Plant and Pest and Disease Control from the New Jersey Department of Agriculture to inform the residents on the current status of the Gypsy moth in Plumsted Township. Mr. Zoltowski advised the population of pest has been knocked down do to the Township’s past spraying programs and the natural controls of nature thus we’re now at the bottom of the cycle and there will be no need to do aerial spraying in Plumsted.

Pictured is Mr. Joe Zoltowski presenting to the audience using power point slides the history, life cycle, past spraying areas, natural controls, shown on maps along with current updates on egg mass counts and results of the Gypsy moth control program in Plumsted Township.
