Dear Resident:

During the year 2001, Plumsted received the highest amount of funding, $1,250,000, of any municipality in Ocean County from the State of New Jersey's newest grant program, "The Green Acres Planning Incentive Grant", to save more of our wooded and farmland from being developed.

To date, Plumsted Township has preserved more land from development, in excess of 2,500 acres, than any other municipality in Ocean County. The Township Committee is also in the process of trying to preserve another 1,000 acres located in our Coastal Divide, Lakewood and Pinehurst Preservation Areas as shown on the map.

With funding from the State, the Ocean County Natural Lands Program and our own dedicated open space trust fund, your Township Committee can continue to aggressively seek willing sellers of open and wooded land for our preservation programs.

Saving land not only helps to retain our rural character, but also helps to save taxes in education and other public services while providing our community with an improved quality of life; less traffic gridlock; cleaner air; and better water quality.

Anyone owning vacant, wooded or farmland that may be interested in receiving a free appraisal for the fair market value of your land for one of our preservation programs, please contact our Business Administrator, Richard Kachmar at the Township: 609-758-2241.
