NOTICE TO BIDDERS
FREE PAPER SHREDDING

New Egypt, NJ: September 3, 2010. Plumsted Township and Main Street New Egypt will be conducting a free paper-shredding event on Saturday, October 2, 2010 in the rear of the municipal parking lot on Main Street in New Egypt (between Scott’s Market and Mid-Atlantic XTreme Sports) from 9 AM to 12 Noon.

Plumsted Township residents will be able to dispose of old documents and confidential papers in a safe way. The program has a twofold effect. By shredding personal papers and documents, residents are reducing the potential for identity theft and the township is continuing its efforts to remove recyclables from the waste streams, Mayor Dancer said. The shredded paper is recycled. One thousand pounds of recycled paper is the equivalent of 17 fully grown trees.

The guidelines for participating are to remove all large binder clips from unwanted material, and each resident is limited to shredding ten (10) boxes of paper per household. Staples and paper clips do not have to be removed from the unwanted material. No x-rays and no business or commercial paper waste will be accepted. Residents must have identification clearly showing their residence in Plumsted Township.

Depending on the demand for service, the ten (10) box limit for each resident will be enforced. When the truck is filled to capacity, the service will stop. Funding for the paper-shredding event is made possible by a Clean Communities Grant from the State of New Jersey. For more information, call 609-758-7539.
