Federal Recreational Trails Grant To Plumsted

The Federal Highway Administration has approved the Plumsted Township Committee’s grant application under the Federal Recreational Trails Program for an award of $25,000. The funding for this project will be used to develop a park with a pathway and canoe/kayak access to Crosswicks Creek. As part of the funding for this project, signs will be installed to inform boaters that there is water trail access at the park.

The Township is also pursuing grants for a possible “rails to trails” project for biking and hiking on the abandoned Union Transportation Railroad Line that is now owned by Jersey Central Power and Light Company (JCP&L). The Township is presently in discussions with JCP&L.
