New Drug Enforcement Strategies Result In Arrests

The drug enforcement policies and strategies being implemented by Plumsted’s newly promoted officer in charge, Sergeant Matthew Petrecca, are sending users and dealers to jail. Sgt. Petrecca reports that on November 9th, at approximately 10 P.M., four (4) Plumsted Police Officers, Sgt. Pintye, Patrolmen Doell, England and Murphy conducted an investigation at #11 Main Street, New Egypt. The findings of the investigation resulted in the arrest of 26 year old, Mr. Jose Martinez for the possession of a controlled dangerous substance (Marijuana) in excess of 50 grams with the intent to distribute in a school zone.

Signs On Poles Against Law

Jersey Central Power and Light Company has notified municipalities to enforce a State Law that prohibits the placing of signs (political or otherwise) on public utility poles. JCP&L advises that in addition to being illegal, these signs pose a safety hazard to utility workers. Not only do the signs often prevent them from being able to physically climb the pole; but nails, staples, etc. could cause injury to utility workers or jeopardize the integrity of safety equipment (gloves) that may unknowingly be punctured by these staples and nails.

The State law prescribes penalties ranging from $50 to $500 for each offense. Each day of the violation may be deemed to be a separate offense.

Advertised Bids For Legal Services

Since the enactment of a N.J. State Law that became effective in 2006, Plumsted Township has advertised every year during the month of November for the receipt of sealed bid proposals to provide legal, engineering and auditing professional services for the following year. The advertised deadline this year for submitting the sealed bid proposals to Plumsted’s Municipal Clerk was on or before November 24th at 4:00 P.M.

Last year, following the advertisement for sealed bid professional service contract proposals, no lawyers submitted bids to provide Township legal, labor or prosecutor professional services other than the current law firms. However, last year’s advertisement did result in three (3) auditing firms and two bond counsel firms submitting bids.
