Press Release
Habitat for
Humanity and Plumsted Township
Announce Partnership
New Egypt, NJ:
September 22, 2010. Northern Ocean
Habitat for Humanity and
Plumsted
Township are pleased to
announce a new partnership to better meet the needs of the
community. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, Christian housing
ministry that works both to eliminate poverty housing around the
world and to make adequate housing a matter of conscience and
action. Habitat welcomes to the table partners from any faith-or
from no faith- who are willing to pick up a hammer to help improve
the lives of families needing decent shelter.
Presently Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity
has built ten affordable homes for hard working, low income families
in Northern Ocean
County.
Presently we are starting our 11th house in
Jackson Twp. Homeowners
are selected locally by Habitat organizations based on their need
for housing, ability to repay a no-profit loan and willingness to
partner with Habitat.
In recent years affiliates have begun to
broaden their efforts to help eliminate poverty housing (the core of
Habitat’s mission). This continuum of housing solutions which
includes rehabilitation and repair of rundown homes has broadened
Habitat for Humanity’s ability to help more low income families in
our communities.
Included in this product spectrum is a very special program called
A Brush With Kindness.
A Brush with Kindness focuses on simple repairs
for low-income homeowners who struggle to maintain the exterior of
their homes. This program consists of painting, minor exterior
repairs, landscaping, power-washing, weather sealing, and exterior
cleanup. A Brush With
Kindness:
·
increases the number of families
living in safe, decent and affordable housing
·
increases the number of volunteer
opportunities for our current volunteers
·
Expands our base of volunteers by
providing a different type of volunteer opportunity
·
Creates opportunities to develop
cooperative relationships within the community
Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity will be at the Welcome Center on Main Street in New Egypt to provide
information on our housing ministry on
Tuesday, September 28 from
4-7 pm,
Thursday, September 30 from 10- 2 pm, Tuesday, October 12 from
10-2pm and Tuesday, October 19 from 3-7pm. We will also be present
at the Fall Spooktacular in New Egypt on Sunday,
October 31 from 11-4pm.
We look forward to meeting you.
