Committeewoman
Roberts and Court Clerk Stevens Retire
|
During the last public Town
Hall meeting of 2007, the Township Committee thanked retiring
Committeewoman
Ada G. Roberts and Court Administrator Anita Stevens for their
dedicated public
service on behalf of the residents of Plumsted Township.
Committeewoman Ada Roberts
stepped forward to fill the unexpired term of her late husband of 54
years,
Committeeman Mike Roberts, on June 4, 2001 and was elected to serve two
additional three year terms from January 1, 2002 to December 31, 2007.
Ada was
a consistent voice and vote on the Committee to keep Plumsted rural and
affordable. The outstanding public service of Committeewoman Ada
Roberts was
commemorated by an official Joint Legislative Resolution of the N.J.
State
Senate and General Assembly. A resident of Plumsted for the past 21
years, Ada
plans to continue residing in the Township that she loves and, enjoy
time with
her family and friends.
Plumsted’s
longest serving public employee,
Anita Stevens, officially retires after 42 years with the Township as
our Court
Administrator. The N.J. Superior Court and the State’s Municipal Court
Clerks
Association recognized Anita’s exemplary service by awarding her
Achievement
Awards during her tenure. Anita will continue serving Plumsted as a
volunteer
in the Court, as well as, “limited” part-time assistance in the future.
The N.J. League of
Municipalities, representing all 566 Townships in the State, has
announced that
three (3) Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded to
High
School Seniors entering College this Fall. Public, private and home
schooled
students are all eligible. To be considered for the $1,000 Scholarship
Award,
students are to write an essay of the theme “What My Mayor and
Governing Body
Do Best”. The essay should be approximately 500 words and must be
submitted to
the Mayor (121 Evergreen Rd., New Egypt) no later than March 15th.
In addition to financially
assisting the students with their college education, the scholarship
competition
advances the virtues and heightens public awareness of elected and
volunteer
positions in municipal government. Students may contact their elected
officials
for interviews and ask them questions prior to writing and submitting
their
essays by calling 758-2241 x 102. Applications for the scholarships are
available at the Municipal Clerk’s office, 121 Evergreen Road, or by
calling
the Clerk’s office at 609-758-2241 x 101.
Dog licenses must
be purchased by January 31st
and cannot be purchased without proof of rabies vaccination. The
Township
Committee approved a 50% discount reduction in Dog license fees for
Senior
Citizens and volunteers with the First Aid Squad, Fire Company and
volunteers
appointed by the Township Committee. Animal Control Officer, Mary
Klink, would
like to remind everyone that a late fee of $10 is enforced March 1st
for anyone not obtaining a 2008 dog license.
