New Egypt Day
Festival On Saturday
|
An old fashioned outdoor street
festival with family
oriented events for all ages comes to Downtown New Egypt on Saturday,
May 17,
from 11 am to 4 pm. The Oakford
Lake
pedestrian bridge links all the festival
activities taking place on Lakeview Drive
at the Oakford
Lake
Park
to the Front
Street site
which is parallel to Main Street,
New Egypt. Both Front Street
and the portion of Lakeview Drive
along Oakford
Lake
Park
will be closed to thru traffic for the public’s safety.
From pony rides, games, free
bouncing inflatables
and much more for the kids, to enjoyable live band music entertainment,
crafts
and shopping for adults are just a few of the festival highlights that
provide
fun, food and refreshments all day on each side of the lake. The public
is also
being encouraged to bring care package items to this year’s festival to
support
our troops in Iraq
for collection at The MOMS Club table. Some of the items that may be
donated
are, CD’s, nuts, crachers, crosswords, frisbees, soccer balls and phone
cards.
For more information on items needed to support our soldiers protecting
our
freedom, please contact Shawna Crain of the MOMS Club at 609-758-7346.
Following the daytime street
festival, will be the
7:00 pm. debut of “Movie Under The Stars” at the Township’s Recreation Park,
across from Front Street
and Oakford
Lake
Park.
The highly acclaimed Warner Bros. Motion picture feature is Will Smith
“I AM
LEGEND” and the admission fee is only $2. This years’ annual New Egypt
Day and
Movie Under The Stars events are being hosted by Plumsted
Township’s
Neighborhood Preservation Program and the Main Street New Egypt Program
with
additional support for the Movie Under the Stars presentation from the
Plumsted
Business Merchants Association which benefit the New Egypt High School
Interact
Club. The Main
Street New Egypt Program
was just recently recognized with Accreditation at the 2008 National
Main Street Convention in Philadelphia.
The Mayor and Township
Committee congratulate and

National
recognition. For more information, feel free to call Main Street

after the Township Committee awarded an $89,000 contract to the lowest
bidder,
Larkin Builders, Inc. of Avon-By-The-Sea,
N.J.,
to upgrade and renovate portions of the Oakford Lake Dam
and Park.

Downtown New Egypt
will be the annual Memorial Day Parade beginning at 1 pm on Monday, May

Marinari and begin with a line up on Bright Road and go down North Main
