Plumsted Hires New Police Officer |

The newest member to be appointed to the Plumsted
Police Department is Patrolman Jared England, who attained his full Class A
certification as a graduate of the 87th Class at the Ocean County
Police Training
Academy on January 25,
2007. Patrolman England, who
is 26 years old and resides in Manchester
Township, was previously
employed as a Special Law Enforcement Officer with the Borough of Mantoloking
since 2006.
Patrolman
England
is a graduate of The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of
Arts Degree in Sociology and Anthropology. Relevant courses to Law Enforcement
include Organized Crime and Criminology. Officer England’s volunteer services
have been with the Ocean County Court System’s family Crisis Intervention Unit
and the Adult Probation Unit.
The
Police Department would appreciate the public updating telephone contact

Township officials have been speaking with regional
Exxon Corporation representatives regarding their future plans for the Main Street
New Egypt Exxon, since its recent closing. To date, no decision has been made
to either sell the gas station to another gasoline service retail chain or
continue with another local franchise Exxon operator. Anyone with an interest
in a potential business opportunity for the gas station and car service facility,
please contact our Main Street New Egypt business executive director, Peter
Ylvisaker at 609-758-7539 for further information.
Residents
are reminded and encouraged to attend the Township’s Council for the Arts
Summer events in Downtown New Egypt beginning on Friday evening, June 27, from
7:30 to 9pm at the Oakford
Lake Park
with the band “SunDog. Then, on Sunday, June 29, bring the family to the Welcome Center, 31 Main Street, from 11am to 1pm for a
hands-on art workshop creating summer crafts together and enjoy the
refreshments. Mark the calendar for Plumsted’s annual Fireworks display and
festival on Saturday, July 5th.
During
the Independence Holiday weekend, the public is reminded that the Township’s
recycling center, bulk waste disposal and leaf / branch sites are closed on
Saturday, July 5th.
The
Township is considering the cost effectiveness of contracting out snow plowing
and salting services for the public parking lots and public building areas.
Anyone interested may submit a letter of interest to the Township’s Purchasing
Agent, June Madden, to be included on a potential vendor list. Anyone
interested in a part-time secretarial position with the Environmental
Commission, please contact the Township Clerk’s office at 758-2241 x 101.
The next regularly scheduled public meetings with
the new administration of Township Committee members Dave Leutwyler,
Steve Reed, Eric Sorchik, Deputy Mayor Mike McCue and Mayor Ron Dancer
is Wednesday, July 2nd at
8:00 P.M.

As a result of the new Township Committee meeting
schedule, the dates for the monthly one-on-one personal meeting
sessions with Mayor Ron Dancer at the Library every month have also
been revised. In 2007, meet personally with the Mayor at the Library on
the second (2nd) Wednesday of each month (July 9th)
from 7 to 9 p.m. to discuss local concerns or State
issues. Residents

Library (758-7888) in advance to schedule a specific time for your
