News and Noteworthy

The N.J. State Assembly has unanimously approved legislation, A-557, sponsored by Assemblyman Ron Dancer, known as the cost saving – job creating “Bidder Bill” that corrects a clerical oversight in the contractor bidding process to allow government at all levels to operate more efficiently and save taxpayer dollars.

Specifically, the Bidder Bill, which now heads to the Senate for a vote, permits a business, due to a clerical oversight for not attaching its business registration certificate (BRC) to the bid documents, but was lawfully registered, an opportunity to simply submit the BRC. Presently, government is required to reject the lowest bid if the BRC was not attached and award to a higher bidder, increasing costs to taxpayers.
