Public Meetings Scheduled For School Budget
|
|
|
|
The
Township Committee and Board of Education will meet together at the same time
and have two public meetings to consider the fate of Plumsted Township
School District's voter
rejected tax levy to support the budget. The first combined public meeting with
the Township Committee and Board of Education members is scheduled for
Thursday, May 13th, at the School Auditorium, 7:30 pm.
In advance
of the Thursday, May 13th public meeting, Mayor Dancer's regularly scheduled
"Meet the Mayor" evening at the Library on the second Wednesday of each month (May
12th) from 7 pm to 9 pm will also provide residents with another
opportunity to personally discuss the school budget issues with the Mayor.
Although
there will be no official action taken at the May 13th meeting, the public will
be given a status report of informal discussions between a Township
Committee and School Board sub-committee that is comprised of two members from
the Committee and Board. In addition to the status report, the Township and
School Board will seek public comment and suggestions in preparation for
the final public meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 18th, at the School
Auditorium, 7:30 pm. State law requires a final determination by May 19th.
The
public is advised that a recess, one or more times, may be necessary at the May
18th meeting to consider additional comments from members of the School Board,
Township Committee and public in order to prepare or revise final
determinations.
