Voter Registration Information



 

WHO IS ENTITLED TO REGISTER TO VOTE:

Each person shall be permitted to vote who:
  1. Is a citizen of the United States
  2. Will be eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of the next ensuing election.
  3. Will have resided in the State and County at least thirty (30) days prior to the next election.

WHEN SHOULD I REGISTER TO VOTE:

The Registration deadline to vote at the next election is 29 days prior to election day. You may register to vote after the deadline, but will be unable to vote in the election immediately forthcoming but will be eligible to vote in elections held thereafter.

Voter registration in New Jersey is permanent, with the following exceptions.
  1. The voter no longer resides in the County in which he has registered.
  2. The County Prosecutor has reported a person who has been convicted of a crime which would disfranchise the person from voting.
  3. A convicted felon and a person on parole.

WHERE SHOULD I REGISTER TO VOTE OR OBTAIN FORMS TO REGISTER TO VOTE:

Forms for registering to vote can be picked up at the Plumsted Township's Municipal Clerk's Office located at 2 Cedar Street.

Voter registration forms can also be downloaded from the Ocean County Clerk's Office website (www.oceancountyclerk.com). but must be signed with an original signature and returned to the Ocean County Board of Elections.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Any voter who moves from one County to another must register in their new County.

Any person who changes their name by marriage, divorce or judgement of the Court must notify the Board of Elections.

To ensure that the Ocean County Board of Elections receives your Voter Registration, it is recommended that you mail directly to the Ocean County Board of Elections, 126 Hooper Avenue, P.O. Box 2006, Toms River, NJ 08754 or drop off your application at the Municipal Clerk's Office located at 2 Cedar Street, New Egypt.
