Mayor Message

I’ve had the honor and privilege to be your mayor for the last 17 months. Most of those months, dealing with COVID–19/ CDC / NJ state regulations. You, the residents of Plumsted, followed those recommendations. It meant all of us had to restrict most of our “normal lifestyles”. It meant changes for our young residents – a whole new way of education. Our businesses suffered so much. You dealt with all of those changes and in many cases had to change most of your and your families lives. I’ve stated that I will not seek re-election to the position of Mayor for 2022. So when I asked Mr. Jamey Bohonyi from Animals and Gardens Unlimited and Mr. Christian Nevers from the MarketPlace, if they would like to bring some normalcy back to New Egypt by holding the Saturday Night Fireworks, I hoped we could accomplish just that.

It basically meant planning an event that normally takes at least 6 months into 2 months. It was formally moved forward after the state lessened restrictions on the number of attendees who could attend such an event.  Allowing our three businesses to pay for the event – we did not have the time to properly ask vendors to attend, but I hope the community does have an event with vendors present in the future.

I was, and always have been, honored to work with these community-minded businesses. Under a separate posting, I attempted to thank all those businesses and residents who helped with the event. I do hope that those who attended the event enjoyed themselves and that the event brought some normality back to our community.

I clearly know that the last 17 months were hard for most of you and that as your Mayor you may not have agreed with how I and the committee governed your town. For that I apologize. I did my best for the community that I love very much. For the next four months I will continue to provide you a better place to live.

HOW ABOUT THOSE FIREWORKS!!! Again I want to thank Animals and Gardens Unlimited and New Egypt MarketPlace for joining us at Big Woods Farm to provide what I felt was one of the community’s very best fireworks display!

Be Safe and Be Well,  Herb
