Wintery Roads: Community Feedback Requested

Dear Plumsted Township Residents—

The first week of January brought wintery weather and difficult travel conditions. Community safety is one of our core values, safe roads are a top priority.  I’m pleased to inform to you that the Plumsted Police Department reported no weather-related automobile accidents during the week.

The Monday, January 3rd storm hit parts of the Mid-Atlantic region hard with Plumsted on the northern edge. Our crews were out applying treatment to the roads Monday that continued to help drivers with road conditions into midweek.

The Friday, January 7th storm was forecast for overnight and ended up dumping almost all of the 5.5 inches of snow between 3 and 7 a.m. With crews reporting in as early as 3 a.m., the near whiteout conditions delayed the start of most of the snow plowing until daylight. Even so, most streets had been cleared or had crews onsite by late morning.

So how did we do? We’ll have a team debrief this week and would welcome your comments on what was done well and where we can improve for the next winter storm event. Please email us at rbowen@plumsted.org and include the street and the time of any observation. If you would like a response to your email, please include your name.

Our thanks to the Plumsted Township and Ocean County crews for all their hard work to keep our residents safe this winter.
