175 Years of Plumsted!

October 17th, 2020, Plumsted celebrated its 175th Anniversary, presented by the Pride in Plumsted Program.  Many were in attendance to see the Scouts of Troops 9 and 19 raise the flag, as well as hear from Assemblyman Ronald Dancer, Mayor Herb Marinari, and Margaret Neuman of the New Egypt Historical Society.  The township unveiled a celebration banner, which will be on display in front of the municipal building and street signs to echo the banner acknowledging the rich history of the township.

Committeeman Leonard Grilletto spearheaded the event and gave a welcoming speech to all who attended. The community and elected officials watched in reverence as the scouts raised a new flag and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Pastor Cuozzo led the invocation. Assemblyman Dancer reminded us of scenes and determination from the past that have brought us to where we are today.  Assemblyman Dancer also presented Historical Society President, Margaret Neuman with both a commemorative plaque for the Society’s works and a commendation from the Senate and General Assembly.   President Neuman then delivered a tale of the beginnings of the community and why the preservation of its rural character has such a strong standing in the culture of the township.

Thank you to all that helped pull this together, especially resident Alicia Plaag,  and thank you to the community, past and present, for making Plumsted what it is today.
