Clerk

The Municipal Clerk reports to the Township Committee.  The position of Municipal Clerk is a statutory position, requiring State certification and continuing education.  The Municipal Clerk, as secretary to the governing body, is the recipient of any correspondence or reports addressed to the Township Committee. In addition to being the secretary to the municipality, the Municipal Clerk is custodian of the municipal seal and all minute books, ordinances, contracts and archival records.  The Municipal Clerk serves as the Chief Administrative Officer in all municipal elections.  This office also issues various licenses and permits, such as dog licenses, bingo and raffle licenses, liquor licenses, and peddler/solicitors licenses, etc.

In Plumsted Township, the Municipal Clerk is also the Certified Municipal Registrar.  The Municipal Registrar takes marriage/civil union/domestic partnership applications and issues marriage certificates, birth certificates and death certificates for events that take place in Plumsted Township.  Appointments are available Monday through Friday, 9:30 AM to 4:15 PM.  We ask that you call in advance to make an appointment.
