2024 Dog Licenses Due - Avoid the LATE Fees!

Sitting Brown dog with collar with license tag on it

This is a reminder that the grace period for dog license renewal is almost over.  The late fee of $10 per dog will go into effect March 1, 2024 (Please note: this does not apply to dogs who are being licensed for the first time in the Township)

  • Please be sure your rabies vaccine does not expire before 11/1/24, otherwise we cannot issue your license.  If your dog is exempt from a rabies vaccination, please provide a letter from your veterinarian showing such.
  • For those who received the 3-part renewal form, please be sure to return ALL 3 parts for processing.  We will return one copy to you with your 2024 license tag number on it.

According to N.J.S.A. 4:19-15.2., all dogs must be licensed in the State of NJ.  Licensing your dog not only complies with state law, it ensures a dog has been vaccinated for rabies and protects your dog should they be lost or injured.  All tags issued by the township include identification so that when we are notified of a lost dog, we are able to contact the owner. In addition to protecting your dog and providing public safety, it also provides Plumsted residents with services such as animal control, our annual free rabies clinic, and removal of deer carcasses when they have been hit on the road. Monies received for dog licenses are only used for those services and processing licenses; the township receives no profit.

If you have any questions, please call (609)758-2241 Ext. 131 or Ext. 101
