Assemblyman Ron Dancer 1949-2022

We regret to inform the Plumsted community of the passing of our Assemblyman Ronald S. Dancer. A lifelong resident of New Egypt, he was part of the storied Dancer family known for their success in harness racing and also their strong support for the local community. For more than 30 years, Ron was a champion of the future of Plumsted through thoughtful development balanced by the preservation of thousands of acres.

In Plumsted, Ron served as mayor for more than 20 years as well as appointments for multiple terms on the Land Use Board and the Plumsted Municipal Utility Authority. On the county level, he was a leader on the Ocean County Natural Lands Trust Fund Advisory Committee and the Ocean County Senior Citizens Advisory Committee.

As a member of the New Jersey General Assembly from 2002 to 2022, his committees included Agriculture and Food Security, and Military and Veterans’ Affairs.

Ron is survived by his wife, Brenda, two children, and three grandchildren.

In honor of his life and passing, Plumsted Township flags will be flown at half-staff.  A website has been created for extending condolences to the family and recognizing Assemblyman Dancer's years of public service. https://assemblymandancer.com
