Emergency Alert System Drill

Today, October 4, 2023, is the day for the U.S. Government's nationwide emergency alert drill. At approximately 2:20pm ET, the federal government will be conducting a test of its Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA). The EAS part of the test will send an emergency alert to all radios and televisions, while the WEA part of the drill will send an alert to all consumer cell phones. No action is required following receipt of the free message. Remember, this is just a test!
