Notice from the Mayor and Township Committee

The Township is aware of the concerns about potential health risks near the Russo Site here in Plumsted.

The DEP was questioned regarding potential health risks and specifically,

• Will there be well testing?
• Soil samples?
• Well monitoring?

Response from the DEP:

“In their request for relief from the Court, the DEP asked for access to the Russo property in order to conduct sampling and get more information about the site. Once we receive the results from that preliminary sampling, DEP will make determinations as to the scope of the additional investigatory/remedial work that needs to be done.”

“Our initial plans include soil sampling and potentially some surface water sampling. This will inform DEP’s next steps.”
