Notice from the Plumsted Police Department

PHONE SCAM

It has been brought to the attention of the Plumsted Police Department that there has been a subject calling residents requesting money from a traffic warrant. This appears to be an automated voice over messaging system being utilized. Plumsted Criminal Investigation Unit is looking into this matter. The subject(s) have on their voicemail introduction identifing as one of Plumsted Township Police Department's officers or sergeants. They are stating that residents pay them various amounts of money or they will be arrested. 

At NO time will this agency or its members contact a resident or person via phone to request money from a warrant of any kind. Chief Earl Meroney is requesting that if you are contacted by a subject requesting money over the phone you contact the Plumsted Police Department at (609)758-7185.
