Public Notice: Update on Road Projects

Plumsted Township

NJNG Pipeline - All work in Plumsted is being done on County roads. This was done to avoid having to deal with Township Officials who opposed this project.  Road opening permits were issued by the County in the Fall of 2017.

As previously advised, the path of the pipeline:  After entering Plumsted at the intersection of Provinceline Road and Rt 537, the pipeline will head east on 537 and make a right turn onto Hornerstown Road, continuing along Rt 539 to Lakewood Road, where it takes a detour down Lakewood Road, then Fischer Road, and West Colliers Mills Road before finally continuing down Rt 539.  The detour down Lakewood, Fischer and West Colliers Mills is because part of Rt 539 near Nova Tile is the most restricted Pinelands in the State and NJNG was not permitted to place the pipe there.

Roadwork duty provided by the Plumsted Police Department are paid for by NJNG, no taxpayer dollars are spent.

UTT - The work at the intersection of Rt 537 and Highbridge Road and West Millstream Road is a Monmouth County project and is expected to last until the end of the summer.  There are temporary traffic lights on Rt 537 and Highbridge Road to control traffic during construction.  It is important to remember to obey the signs that have been put up.  Do not block driveways, intersections and do NOT turn right on red.

Sewer - The collection system construction has begun.  The parking lot at 10 Evergreen Road will be closed until further notice for construction of a pump at this site.

Redevelopment Project - Lennar held a ground breaking ceremony on April 17th for the planned senior development on Provinceline Road and Jacobstown Road.  This development will provide the funds to pay for the downtown sewer system installation.

CDBG Grant - The second half of the Brindletown Road parking lot at the recreation fields will be paved with grant money received from Ocean County.  Every 2 years the County offers Plumsted a grant for improvements in the downtown area.  There are very strict requirements regarding the projects that are eligible.

Loveman Road - The Township received a grant from NJ to repair and repave part of Loveman Road.  This project will now have further planning done by our engineer and will go out to bid for the work asap.
