Storm Water Drains

Stormwater drain

Stormwater drain cleaning is the process of removing debris, leaves, and other objects from the storm drain and its vicinity to keep them clear and prevent flooding. This is done for routine maintenance, new construction or emergency purposes. Stormwater drains are usually cleaned using high-pressure hydro jetting, which is highly effective at clearing debris and buildup.

Although Plumsted Township routinely monitors stormwater drains, the abundance of falling leaves and unusually high amounts of rainfall over the last month, have resulted in some isolated storm drain blockages.

Therefore, residents should be on alert for possible flooding issues, especially with heavy rains forecast for the upcoming weekend. When safe to do so, leaves and smalls twigs may be removed from the stormwater drain grating to facilitate water flow. Of course, in emergency situations notify police immediately, and in non-emergency situations notify the township as soon as practical so that any issues can be properly addressed.

We appreciate your assistance in ensuring our watersheds remain clean and our community safe.
