Pride in Plumsted Presents:

Celebration of Veterans Day, Honoring All Veterans, Past and Present

Date:  November 11, 2023

Time:  10 AM, Rain or Shine

Place:  Sgt. David Southard Plaza, Main Street (Clock Tower), New Egypt, N.J.

Come join us in commemoration of U.S. veterans of the tragic bombing of our peacekeeping force on October 23, 1983, and all veterans who served this country. Additionally, former Asemblyman Ron Dancer will be honored posthumously.

Speakers: Pastor Genever Vinson, Vision of Promise Ministry; Congressman Christopher H. Smith or his representative; Assemblymen Alex Sauickie and Rob Clifton; Plumsted Township Mayor Bob Bowen;  American Legion Post #455 Commander Jennifer Duffield;  Anthony L. Gladden, Department Executive Committeeman.

Girl Scout Troop 440 will participate in the lowering of the flag presently flying in the plaza and the hoisting of a new replacement flag.

The reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and the Gettysburg Address will occur, coupled with the uncovering of flags for the remaining two (2) military branches, the U.S. Coast Guard and Space Force. Additionally, a plaque honoring the fallen members of our Armed Forces in Beirut, Lebanon on October 23, 1983 will be revealed.

Flags and pens commemorating this event will be distributed.

As of yet, a date has not been determined by the Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Commission, to celebrate the placement of the plaque for Thomas Chafey, American Revolutionary War veteran, interred at the Zion Cemetery, Route 528.
